The story goes up on this page shortly after the release: the new numbers, how they compare with before and what they mean for your money. Until then, here is what the release measures and where the last report left off.
What it measures
A monthly survey of manufacturers in eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Delaware by the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. The headline index is the share of firms reporting higher activity minus the share reporting lower; above zero points to growth.
Why it matters for your money
Along with the New York Fed’s survey, it gives an early read on factories each month, before national manufacturing data come out.
