Jobs report (Employment Situation) for October 2026: out Friday, November 6, 2026, at 8:30 AM ET

The story goes up on this page shortly after the release: the new numbers, how they compare with before and what they mean for your money. Until then, here is what the release measures and where the last report left off.

What it measures

The monthly jobs report: how many jobs US employers added or cut, the unemployment rate, and average hourly earnings.

Why it matters for your money

It is the clearest read on whether hiring is holding up. Fast pay growth can keep inflation and interest rates higher, while a sharp drop in hiring tends to pull Treasury and mortgage rates down.
