Empire State manufacturing survey for October 2026: out Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 8:30 AM ET
The story goes up on this page shortly after the release: the new numbers, how they compare with before and what they mean for your money. Until then, here is what the release measures and where the last report left off.
What it measures
A monthly survey of manufacturers in New York State by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. The headline index is the share of firms reporting better business conditions minus the share reporting worse; above zero means conditions improved.
Why it matters for your money
It is usually the first survey of factory conditions for the month, ahead of national manufacturing data for the same month.
