Consumer Price Index (CPI) for October 2026: out Tuesday, November 10, 2026, at 8:30 AM ET

The story goes up on this page shortly after the release: the new numbers, how they compare with before and what they mean for your money. Until then, here is what the release measures and where the last report left off.

What it measures

Tracks the prices of a fixed basket of goods and services that households buy. The headline rate includes food and energy; core leaves them out.

Why it matters for your money

CPI data set the yearly Social Security cost-of-living adjustment (from CPI-W), the inflation part of the I bond rate (from CPI-U) and the IRS's yearly tax bracket changes (from chained CPI). They also shape what the Fed does next.
