About these releases
- Consumer Price Index (CPI)
- Tracks the prices of a fixed basket of goods and services that households buy. The headline rate includes food and energy; core leaves them out.
- Initial jobless claims
- The number of people who filed a first claim for state unemployment benefits in the latest week.
- 30-year bond auction
- Treasury sells new debt to investors, and the winning bids set its yield. Weak demand can lift long-term rates, which mortgage rates tend to follow.
